Choosing a Wedding Band

wedding band for post

As you’ll want to wear it every day of your life, do make sure it fits well.

Finding the right engagement ring & shopping for wedding bands for the two of you is a task in itself. Beauty and sparkle are always prime considerations with engagement rings, However you need to consider few practical facts.

Correct Fit

This should be the most important consideration. The ring should fit well. You will wear it more often than not and hence comfort may be more important than fashion or trend (at-least in this case)

The brand you choose should professionally size your rings. Wedding Rings (bands) can be crafted in 14k, 18k or 22K — in yellow, white or red Gold. People who fancy Platinum could consider this as well but will be expensive.  In case you are adventurous and go all out to opt for materials like titanium, tungsten carbide or ceramic, do note that these can’t be resized. So you cannot put on or reduce weight to fit in to these rings !

Other points to Consider

The width and the actual shape of the ring, and of your fingers — can have a surprising effect on how it sits on your finger, and how comfortable you find it. Classic rings have a straight interior edge, and it can cut or pinch some people’s fingers, especially if the ring is wide or thick. A wide band on a relatively short finger can cause it to dig in when you flex your hands or carry something. They can also be harder to fit over knuckles — and while you’ll wear your wedding band a lot, you will have to get it off and on occasionally.

Other rings have more metal in the interior, allowing the outside edges to curve. This is done to reduce the pressure points from the ring on your finger when it’s bent or holding something. Some of these rings are known as comfort-fit, but not all.

Finally, there may be etched details on the edges of your ring, like milgrain. Some people’s fingers can be sensitive to even the slightest irritation. If that sounds familiar, opt for a smooth, polished edge.

Select your ring carefully — As you will wear it for years to come ! All the Best Girls & Boys..
